Filter media is what you will find in your filters that work to make your pond water healthy for your fish and plants. The different types of media can be broken down into 3 groups based on how they filter water.
Biological Filter Media- Is where your Good Bacteria attaches itself and eats up the fish and plant waste. Never Clean With Tap Water Until The End Of The Season, You Will Kill All The Bacteria
Chemical Filter Media- Is what will take color tints and odor out of the water.
Mechanical Filter Media- Is what catches forms of debris floating in the water.
